U.S. Day Ahead: Hopes for holiday shopping bonanza

Dec. 27 - Markets are likely to take a cue from a batch of retail data which should show how shoppers behaved in the run up to Christmas.

Here's your US day ahead we'll see if holiday shoppers injected any here into the economy with key data from shopper track at 1:30 PM. The research from a release sales and store traffic for the weekend -- Christmas Eve. Hopes for a big names are high with one analyst telling Reuters chains are expecting 72 billion dollars worth of purchases. In the final week of the year now be up from 62 billion dollars and twenty -- And more retail data will be on happened the morning. 7:45 AMC's the release of chain store sales from the International Council of Shopping Centers and Goldman Sachs. That's followed by the latest read of the red book at 855. Republican presidential hopefuls will be turning up the heat in the final week of campaigning in Iowa. Mitt Romney makes his first appearance in the states since the Christmas break Ron Paul Newt Gingrich and Rick Perry also slated for speeches. Paul is still leading the pack with Iowa vote set for January there. And elsewhere investors we'll check both of Latin America's largest economy when Brazil's budget balances were released at 7:30 AM. That's expected to reach its target of 127.
