Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez arrives in Cuba for surgery on what doctors fear could be pelvic cancer. The charismatic leader was met by in Havana by Cuban leader Raul Castro. Chavez, who had treatment for cancer last year, was scheduled Saturday to undergo a series of tests after doctors found a lesion on his pelvis. The revelation has touched off a wave of speculation about who would replace Chavez if he's unanble to continue as president. The often contraversial leader has run Venezuela since 1998. Analysts say even a weakened Chavez would be a formidable candidate in the presidential election set for October. (SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) POLITICAL ANALYST, JESSE CHACON "There is no one today who possesses Chavez's connection with vast sectors of Venezuelan society. As some analysts here say, the only way Chavez is leaving here is if he dies." Although his medical tests were to begin Saturday, Chavez has been tight-lipped about when he'll have surgery on the lesion. Andrew Raven, Reuters
