Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney arrives in Gdansk Poland Monday. He is welcomed by crowds of people ahead of meetings with Prime Minister Donald Tusk. Gdansk was at the center of the anticommunist movement in Poland, which sparked democratic reforms in other parts of Europe. One man says he hopes Romney will keep any promises he makes. (SOUNDBITE) (Polish) TOURIST FROM WROCLAW, IRENEUSZ DOKURNO, SAYING: "From my point of view the visit makes sense, but when it comes to promises… what can I say? I hope that it won't end in more promises, but will be followed by some action. Up to now, U.S. presidential candidates have only made promises that weren't kept." Romney -- on a week long trip abroad that gives US voters a glimpse of him in action overseas -- has been criticized for some high profile missteps. Visiting Israel on Sunday -- Romney won favor from the government with his tough on on Iran, but angered Palestinians by calling Jerusalem "the capital of Israel." Last week, Romney made waves in the UK when he questioned preparations for the Olympic Games. Deborah Lutterbeck, Reuters.
