No pain, no gain -- it's Mexico's 2012 tattoo convention, which also welcomes the pierced and the painted. For some like Consuelo Rodriguez it was their first tattoo experience. SOUNDBITE: Consuelo Rodriguez, saying (Spanish): "This tattoo represents life to me. It's a flower, it's a rose, one of my favourites. I love flowers. To me, it represents life." And for others, like Danae Ayala, it's destiny. SOUNDBITE: Danae Ayala, model from Austin, Texas, saying (English): "Ever since I was a little girl, I always knew what I would look like. Every time I drew a picture of myself, I was always covered in tattoos and piercings. I got my first tattoo when I was 18 and it just kind of ignited a fire within me, and I can't stop." Tattoo artist Alfredo Garcia, says tattoos have overcome their past stigma. SOUNDBITE: Alfredo Garcia, tattoo artist, saying (Spanish): "Now in our studios we get older women, older men, grandmothers, fathers. All sorts of people are getting tattoos. It's becoming more common." And judging by the roughly 20,000 visitors to the expo, tattoos are all the rage.
