It isn't over. More than a week after Sandy left New York like this (smashed up cars) , locals are bracing for another storm. SOUNDBITE: Lucy Karakus, Staten Island resident saying: "We lost everything. I can't talk I am so nervous. I have asthma we don't have medication we don't have food. We need everything actually." Lisa Mazza came to this distribution center near Midland Beach, Staten Island to pick up emergency supplies for her family, who stayed home due to fear of concern about looters. She and many others say there's not much they can do. SOUNDBITE:State Island resident Lisa Mazza saying: "Bundle up. I don't even know. I just hope it doesn't come as bad as they say it's going to. The scariest part is there is no electric, no street lights no anything. So you can't see anything once the night time comes." Their homes have been ravaged and their belongings are everywhere. The prospect of plummeting temperatures, snow and more rain is daunting . SOUNDBITE: Wayne Steinman, Staten Island resident saying: "It's extremely difficult to contemplate if it's going to be -- I mean, it's wind, it's rain, you try to dress appropriately. I lost all my winter clothing in the flood so I am wearing three layers of things in order to stay somewhat warm and dry. Again everything becomes overwhelming." Just about the only people embracing the coming storm are the surfers. SOUNDBITE: MANNY ANGELAKIS, SURFER, SAYING: "We're storm riders. We surfed Sandy last week." The low-pressure system is expected to gain strength and deliver wind gusts of up to 60 miles an hour or 97 kilometers per hour. Parts of Queens look like a war zone (humvees/military personnel/debris) --- and with another storm coming, it seems many are preparing for battle. (Sign which reads "No retreat. No surrender. Not now. not ever").
