Ahmed Al-Jaabari was in this car when it was blown apart by an israeli missile. Israel confirmed it had carried out the attack on the Hammas military chief. They also warned locals in Gaza to expect more strikes. SOUNDBITE: Israeli Army Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Avital Leibovitch saying: "The goal of the operation is to defend Israeli people and also target and cripple those terror organizations responsible for the ongoing rocket fire" Palestinians say a total of nine people were killed including a seven-year-old girl. The series of missile strikes marked the biggest escalation between Israel and Gaza militants since 2009 It comes despite signs that Egypt had managed to broker a truce between Israel and Palestinian militants -- after a five day surge of violence which saw more than 100 missiles fired out of Gaza and repeated Israeli strikes on the enclave.
