STORY: U.S. magazine Glamour celebrated its Women of the Year on Monday night (November 12) in New York.
Fresh from her break-up with Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez stepped out to accept the Independent Spirit award. The 20-year-old singer, actress and fashion trendsetter is the youngest person to be named a U.S. Ambassador for UNICEF.
She explained how her fans inspire and motivate her.
"When I meet my fans at meet and greets or at concerts and they tell me stories and things that they've been through it just, it definitely makes me feel like my fans are very strong and if I can just be their warrior and fight for them I will," she added.
Select members of the 2012 Summer Olympic team were named The Unstoppables. Gymnast Gabby Douglas, swimmer Missy Franklin and sprinter Allyson Felix and others were all red carpet ready.
Each year Glamour recognizes women who are courageous and inspiring and who are changing the world.
Some of the past recipients include Jennifer Lopez, Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling and television personality Katie Couric.
