Nov. 16 - Reuters chats with Tumblr founder and CEO David Karp at the Monaco Media Forum, where he tells us what he learnt from Facebook's IPO.

It definitely did not I think one of the things that were excited to change a little bit. Tumblr. It's really giving advertisers the opportunity bit. Be creative tell stories do they're really really get out of -- people get it the advertising industry. Really tell stories that inspire people -- become customers. Where are you today many of them have been relegated to little blue links on the Internet I think it would be unfortunate. It's going we're still very beginnings of our I advertising effort -- the only just a few months ago watch these products but are seeing some. Only really terrific early traction but we're seeing some really really early results from those products. Yeah I think like everybody in the industry is watching very closely it was the first -- one that I read the whole way through. IPO would be a little ways off for Tumblr says they're still. Is it that the lessons are ones that I'm not. Really really digging into yet but I think it was very enlightening for -- entire industry and it's just being. IPO process that everybody followed so closely I think if we didn't have -- did. A lot of they're still young entrepreneurs. If people were spurred by going -- this the first time you -- how to process works. Its. So we launched our new photos that. About a month ago which is have. Our the first. Effort to play in this this growing ecosystem of creative apps so one of the things I'm most excited about today is that. There's this exploding community of developers. Who are giving attention. And not to use social tools not to do and utilities -- productivity apps but they're actually building a whole new. Products that help you make things you could make horse that on my phone today at twenty apps help we voted for the other five apps help you tweak it. You all sorts of things idiots. That's a really remarkable thing when you consider that Adobe Photoshop is pretty much all we had for the last decade so I am. Incredibly excited about body just it's something that we're really trying -- Tumblr. And photos that is sort of our efforts toe in the water. Putting specialized -- out there in this case is designed to let you share.
