The Daily Digit today is 138. That's one hundred and thirty-eight million dollars. No, not a lottery jackpot. This is how much the Met's baseball team will pay its third baseman, David Wright, for sticking around for the next eight years, according to reports. That 138 includes a $122 million seven-year extension in addition to $13 million he's owed for 2013. It marks the most lucrative deal in the club's history--paid to the six-time All-Star and face of the Mets franchise in New York. The deal could make Wright a Met for life. The Mets drafted him in 2001 and in 2020, when the new contract expires, he will be approaching retirement at age 38, having played 17 seasons. But the Mets cannot make it official just yet. David Wright has to take a physical exams before signing papers, and this weekend he is off to Florida for his teammate Daniel Murphy's wedding.
