Dec. 4 - Government airstrikes continue across Syria, as government troops battle to contain rebel groups. Deborah Lutterbeck reports. ( Transcript )
Rebels fight back in Syria. As rebels make gains across the north and east of the country, the government is is stepping up its use of air power. Amateur video which could not be independently verified by Reuters appears to show an aggressive air campaign across the country. The video comes as NATO is warning President Bashar al-Assad that there will be an immediate response if chemical weapons are used. With rebels closing in intense fighting has led foreign airlines to suspend flights into the country. The United Nations and European Union are reducing their presence in Damascus. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said 200 people were killed across Syria Monday. Neither side appears to have the upper hand in the fight, which has already cost the lives of at least 40,000 people.
