Jolie visits refugees, Stones join Sandy charity concert

UNHCR Special Envoy Angelina Jolie traveled to the Jordan-Syria border overnight Wednesday (December 05) into Thursday (December 06) to meet Syrian refugees who had just completed the perilous crossing to safety in Jordan. Tens of thousands people have already fled to Jordan and surrounding country. Jolie returned to the camp on December 6 to meet more refugees. Jolie and partner Brad Pitt made a donation of 50,000 dollars (USD) for the purchase of family tents for refugees. Betty White got in to the holiday spirit on Thursday (December 6) when she was awarded the Who-manitarian award by none other than the Grinch. The 90-year old actress, who is a life-long animal rights advocate, was on hand to accept the honor, surrounded by a live cast of characters from Dr. Seuss' "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." The event was part of the launch for Universal Studios Hollywood's christmas celebration. The Rolling Stones are the latest to join the in the star studded line-up of artists participating in the 12-12-12 concert, to raise funds for victims of Superstorm Sandy. The concert will also feature Bon Jovi, Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen and Paul McCartney. The concert, which will be held at Madison Square Garden in New York, will be broadcast live on TV and radio around the world.
