Funerals continue as schools in Newton reopen

Dec. 18 - Funerals continue in Connecticut as students make their way back to class in grief-stricken Newton, Connecticut. Deborah Lutterbeck reports.

The casket bearing the body of six year old James Mattioli. He's one of 20 children killed in a mass school shooting last week in Newtown Connecticut -- a town still in mourning. Loved ones try to cope with the loss after a 20-year old gunman opened fire at the Sandy Hook Elementary school, before taking his own life. In his wake -- images that once brought joy now elicit tears. In a small step towards a return to normalcy, some schools reopen in the grief-stricken town. On the streets security surrounds yellow school buses. Parents hold on tight knowing that life can change in an instant -- even as they know it will move on. (SOUNDBITE) (English) PETER MUCKELL, A PARENT, SAYING: "There will be another catastrophe or another world event and we'll be forgotten about for a while and then it will be the one year anniversary. You know how it goes, Everyone knows." Funeral services are expected to continue throughout the week.
