ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION STORY: National Rifle Association Chief Executive Wayne LaPierre said on Friday (December 21) that what is needed to protect U.S. school children is a plan of protection, including guns in schools. At a news conference in Washington, the head of the lobby group, which opposes tighter controls on guns, called on Congress to "put armed police officers in every single school in this nation." LaPierre, who was speaking at the organization's first news conference since a shooting one week ago at a Connecticut primary school that killed 20 young children and six adults, was interrupted twice by members of the group Code Pink, a non-violent advocacy group, that held signs saying "NRA KILLING OUR KIDS."
