A tragic attack here in Alabama.
A gunman boarded a school bus as it ferried children home from school, then fatally shot the driver before fleeing with a young child.
The shooter fled to an underground bunker near his home hours after the shooting, but it wasn't immediately clear if he still had the child, who local media variously identified as five or six years old.

"From what we understand, and it's hearsay at this present time, that the man jumped on the bus and told most the kids to get off the bus and the kids went running down the road to the church and he grabbed the little five year old boy and took him hostage and shot the bus driver four times from what we understand."
The latest reports said the shooter remained barricaded in the bunker with a SWAT team on site, and law enforcement officials were negotiating with him.
