Feb. 23 - Venezuelans hold a vigil for President Hugo Chavez, who is suffering from breathing problems. Sarah Toms reports.

EDIT CONTAINS CONVERTED 4:3 MATERIAL Hundreds of Venezuelans hold a vigil for President Hugo Chavez, lighting candles and singing the national anthem They gathered on a Caracas hillside to pray for their leader who is in a military hospital undergoing treatment for cancer. Some think Chavez has come home to die, others are still hopeful he'll survive. (SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) LILIAN NAGUANAGUA, CHAVEZ SUPPORTER, SAYING: "Chavez will get up from there. Chavez is healed, not only with today's prayers but with all the faith of the Venezuelan people, Chavez will return to govern this country for a very long time." A group of indigenous people danced around a bonfire, shaking maracas blowing conch shells, as part of a ritual to give the president strength. Vice-president Nicolas Maduro said he has met Chavez and discussed political issues, despite his health. (SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) NICOLAS MADURO, VENEZUELAN VICE PRESIDENT, SAYING: "The president is receiving treatment. He has the problem of breathing insufficiency which is being treated intensely. He continues receiving the assistance of a tube to support his breathing and he communicated with us, as you know, through various written means to give us his instructions." Little information has been made public on Chavez's condition . Apart from a few photos, he has not been seen or heard from since his cancer surgery in December.
