China's new leader greets parliament after being formally elected on Thursday (March 14). Xi Jinping is now China's president after taking over from Hu Jintao. The 59-year-old received confirmation in a tightly scripted ceremony at the National People's Congress. He was elected by almost 3,000 delegates and faced virtually no opposition. It's the final seal of approval in a once-in-a-decade power transition. Vice Premier Li Keqiang is set to succeed Premier Wen Jiabao in a similar vote on Friday (March 15).
