U.S. President Barack Obama has awarded singer-songwriter Carole King the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. King is the first female to be handed the award since the prize was conceived in 2007. The honoree and longtime collaborator James Taylor sang "You've Got a Friend" during the close of the tribute. Previous winners of the prize given out by the Library of Congress include Paul Simon and Stevie Wonder. The Cannes film festival was hit by a second jewelry heist on Thursday (May 23) after a long-stranded diamond necklace worth $2.6 million USD (2 million euros) disappeared during a star-studded party. Sharon Stone, Leonardo DiCaprio and Paris Hilton were among the guests. Another high end jewelry house had gems worth $1.4 million stolen in the first week of the 12-day festival. Robert Redford was stunned by the overwhelming positive response of his survival movie "All is Lost," which screened in Cannes on Wednesday (May 22). The 76-year-old stars as an unnamed man facing his own mortality while lost at sea. The audience at the film's gala premiere gave a near-10-minute standing ovation to the actor, who spends much of his onscreen time drenched and nearly all of it without speaking. 44-year-old Jennifer Aniston strips down for her new role in "We're the Millers." The film depicts a group of misfits posing as a family on vacation in order to score a large shipment of marijuana. Aniston, no stranger to showcasing her fit physique for the sake of comedy, puts her character's talent to the test when armed drug dealers demand that she strip to prove she's not actually a mom on vacation.
