ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Music and fashion merged on Monday (November 25) night in New York to celebrate the new film "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom." Rock band U2 and Vogue editor Anna Wintour hosted the night attended by some of the biggest names in fashion. U2 wrote a song for the film which The Edge called a full circle moment. "So proud to be part of this project. It's just an incredible thing that we were asked to write this song for this movie. We've been working for Madiba since we were teenagers," he told Reuters. On the red carpet the singer recalled the last time he met with the former South African president. "He always says the same thing when you go and see him, 'O,' he says, you know, he says, 'you come to visit an old man like me, why would you do that?' You know, you're struck by his humility and his humor, they are the two things - but seeing my two kids, seeing him play with my kids is something I'll always remember." The movie largely based on his autobiography of the same title, traces Mandela's life from his childhood, through his imprisonment on Robben Island, to his election as the country's first black president in 1994. The film has screened numerous times around the world, however Elba said the best compliment he has received came from Mandela himself. Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom will be released on November 29th.
