Engulfed in the fog of war in Syria. Amateur video which can not be independently verified by Reuters appears to show rebel fighters using a war torn building as the front line. In Syria the frontline can be anywhere. In the capital city residents walk through rubble to view a crater in the aftermath of an airstrike. More footage appears to show smoke on the horizon as rebels claim to have taken down a government aircraft, as they struggle to break a months-long blockade by forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad. Efforts aimed at ending the 2-1/2 year old conflict which has killed more than 100,000 people have been beset by differences between Assad's opponents, mainly Western and Arab powers, and his backers, notably Iran and Russia A new round of peace talks has been set for early next year in Geneva. But in a country dominated by violence and loss there are few signs of a path to peace on the ground.
