North Korea calls new U.S. sanctions a 'hostile' policy

North Korea slams fresh U.S. sanctions against it, calling them hostile and repressive policies by Washington. Mana Rabiee reports.

North Korea is slamming fresh U.S. sanctions that target Pyongyang. State TV on Sunday called the move hostile, saying the sanctions policies are repressive. (SOUNDBITE) (Korean) KRT NEWS READER SAYING: "The policy persistently pursued by the U.S. to stifle the DPRK (North Korea), groundlessly stirring up bad blood towards it, would only harden its will and resolution to defend the sovereignty of the country." U.S. President Barack Obama issued an executive order authorizing the expanded sanctions after the U.S. linked North Korea to a major cyberattack on Sony Pictures. The company produced a comedy that depicts depicts a plot to assassinate the reclusive nation's leader, Kim Jong Un. North Korea has denied involvement in the attack. The U.S. sanctions target, among others, North Korea's military agency and ten individuals with links to weapons sales and proliferation.
