Dominique Strauss-Kahn had his sexual practices under scrutiny on Wednesday at his pimping trial. The former IMF chief and ex-French presidential favorite is one of 14 people on trial in the northern French city of Lille -- accused of helping organize sex parties involving prostitutes. Strauss-Kahn admits to attending the parties but insists he didn't organize them -- and he certainly didn't realize the women were prostitutes, he says. The 66-year-old acknowledged in court that his sexual-practices might be -- quote "rougher" -- than average but said THAT should have no bearing on his case. Gilles Maton is the lawyer for a former prostitute named Jade, who testified during the trial about Strauss-Kahn's behavior. (SOUNDBITE) (French) LAWYER FOR FORMER PROSTITUTE "JADE", GILLES MATON, SAYING: "He was capable of being perfectly courteous, and then at other times, when they were being intimate -- and it appears he acknowledges this sort of sexuality -- he was also capable of being relatively brutal." Prostitution isn't illegal in France, but the activities AROUND it, like pimping, are. And because the sex parties allegedly involved numerous prostitutes, Strauss-Khan faces the more serious charge of "aggravated" pimping. If convicted -- the man who hoped to be French president one day, but admits that this and a previous sex scandal have ruined his political career -- could face ten years in prison.
