Poroshenko says Ukraine still a long way from peace

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko says the country is still a long way from peace and that there are no guarantees a ceasefire would take hold. Deborah Lutterbeck reports.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko meets with troops ahead of a ceasefire that is expected to take hold. They sing the national anthem amid reports that two civilians were killed in separatist shelling in the east. Poroshenko says no one should have illusions about the ceasefire. (SOUNDBITE) (Ukrainian) UKRAINIAN PRESIDENT, PETRO POROSHENKO, SAYING: "I don't want anyone to have any illusions. And because I don't want to be seen as naive I have to say: we are still a very long way from peace. Nobody strongly believes that the peace conditions which were signed in Minsk will be implemented strictly." The ceasefire is due to come into effect Sunday. The withdrawal of all heavy weapons is part of the deal to end almost a year long conflict that has killed 5,000 people.
