ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Thousands of protesters took to the streets in Yemen on Saturday (February 28) to denounce Houthi rule and in support of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi. Thousands of protesters marched in Ibb city, while hundreds demonstrated in Sanaa. Houthi militiamen took control of Sanaa in September, eventually leading President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi to flee to the southern port city of Aden this week where he is seeking to set up a rival power centre with loyalist army units and tribes. Hadi met Saudi Arabia's ambassador to Yemen on Saturday in the southern city of Aden. Saudi Arabia joined Western states this month in evacuating its embassy in Sanaa following a power grab by the Iranian-backed northern Houthis, viewed with suspicion by the Gulf's mostly Sunni Muslim rulers. Ambassador Mohammed Said al-Jaber's move to Aden, Yemen's economic hub, underlines Saudi Arabia's support for Hadi, who fled to the port city last week after the Houthis forced him to announce his resignation and held him under house arrest in Sanaa for a month.
