ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived on Sunday (March 15) in Lausanne, where he is to hold decisive negotiations over Tehran's disputed nuclear programme with the United States Secretary of State John Kerry, who arrived in Switzerland later in the day. Six world powers have given themselves an end of June deadline to reach an agreement that curbs sensitive Iranian nuclear work in exchange for sanctions relief. The Western powers hope to have a political framework agreement by the end of March. According to a senior European diplomat, speaking to journalists on condition of anonymity on Friday (March 13), Iranian nuclear talks have made progress, but some very difficult issues remain and it is hard to tell if there can be a breakthrough during this new round of talks in Switzerland. Earlier in the week, the U.S. State department had said that coming weeks were pivotal to reaching an interim nuclear deal with Iran.
