ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) An Afghan woman who was killed by a mob over accusations she burned the holy Quran is buried in Kabul on Sunday (March 22). The attack and killing, in the Afghan capital, has been condemned by the country's President Ashraf Ghani as "heinous". (SOUNDBITE) (English) AFGHAN PRESIDENT, ASHRAF GHANI; SAYING: "The heinous attack on the woman around Shah Do Shamshera mosque has no place in a country like ours." The mob killed the woman, called Farkhunda, set her body on fire and threw it into a muddy river on Thursday (March 19), police say. The woman's father said a local Muslim cleric had accused Farkhunda of burning a copy of the Koran, but later the cleric told police he had been misled, the father said. While Afghanistan is struggling to emerge from the suppression of women under Taliban rule that began in the 1990s, such public attacks, especially in the capital, remain unusual.
