In the second round of mass demonstrations against unpopular President Dilma Rousseff in one month, Sao Paulo residents joined demonstrators in at least 11 states and the federal capital district on Sunday (April 12) to protest her government. Thousands marched down Paulista Avenue, waving signs and chanting against Rousseff. The president is facing historically low approval ratings in the continent-sized South American country. A poll released on Saturday (April 11) showed almost two thirds of Brazilians favour Rousseff's impeachment, though roughly as many doubt it will amount to that. In addition to São Paulo, there were demonstrations in the states of Alagoas, Amazonas, Bahia, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Pará, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina as well as the Federal District of Brasilia.
