South Korean boyband Bigbang have broken their three year silence and returned to the KPop music scene with their new single 'Loser'. The gritty video sees the boys in arguments, in agony and in fights - something which their fans seem to relate to as the song has topped the singles charts in South Korea, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore and Taiwan. SOUNDBITE Bigbang member, Taeyang, saying (Korean): "Society is very competitive. I think the word 'loser' can explain many problems stemming from competition and many people are struggling to survive. It is comforting that we are singing on their behalf." Bigbang claim they are different from other KPop bands, as they are heavily involved in their music production. And, although two of the members have been in the KPop industry since the age of 11, they are wary of the latest trend of KPop bands being created en masse from special schools. SOUNDBITE Bigbang member, Taeyang, saying (Korean): "Many places do training that almost churn out the same people. I think eventually that problem will stand out. I believe music must show our individual identities." But it's not just their music that makes them stand out, there's also their sense of fashion. However, one member G-Dragon, gets more attention for his sense of style rather than his singing voice. SOUNDBITE Bigbang member, G-Dragon, saying (Korean): "Songs, performances and fashion are all tools to explain my music. I don't know how it happened, but it's true [that his fashion style is more scrutinised than his music]." Bigbang are planning to build on their comeback success by releasing one single a month until their new album is released in September.
