Women, children killed in Sanaa air attack: residents

Local residents say Saudi-led coalition air strikes have hit three homes on the outskirts of the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, killing eight people and wounding six others. Rob Muir reports.

It's become a familiar scene in Sanaa. Another air-strike. Another tragedy for residents. This time, three homes on the outskirts of the Yemeni capital were destroyed in attacks, led by Saudi aircraft targeting Yemen's Houthi rebels. But locals say the planes missed their target, and killed eight innocent people, all women and children. Six other were wounded. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) RESIDENT AND WITNESS, HAMEED ALI, SAYING: "Are there any missiles here? Are there any military sites here? Are there any explosives here? There is nothing here. He sells ice cream," But despite the damage, Saudi Arabia says it will continue its offensive until the Houthis, currently the dominant power in Yemen, retreat and exiled President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi is restored to power. The United Nations hopes to bring the warring parties together for peace talks later this month. For ordinary Yemenis, those talks to can't come soon enough.
