ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Britain's Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh attended a state dinner in Berlin on Wednesday, at the end of their first full day in the German capital. The royals are on a three-day state visit to Germany, which began with a meeting at the palace on Wednesday morning with German President Joachim Gauck. The Queen and the President took a boat ride along the River Spree in central Berlin before the British head of state met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel for talks. In the afternoon the royals attended an event at Berlin's technical university marking 50 years since the first so-called "Queen's lecture" - a series of lectures which the Queen bestowed as a gift to the City of Berlin on the occasion of her state visit in 1965. Among the 140 guests attending the dinner at the president's official residence known as Schloss Bellevue castle, were members of both governments including Merkel and British Prime Minister David Cameron. The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh will continue their visit on Thursday (June 25) by traveling to Frankfurt, and will end the trip on Friday with a visit to the Bergen-Belsen WWII concentration camp.
