Greece to seek common ground with partners after 'No' victory - Varoufakis

Greek Finance Minister says with a resounding No, Greece can now ask for a fair deal from international partners. Rough Cut (no reporter narration).

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis said the No vote on Sunday (July 5) was a resounding "yes to a democratic Europe" adding that the government would call on partners to find common ground with Greece. "As of tomorrow, with this brave No the Greek people handed us, with the No they said ignoring the fear they created with closed banks... with this tool, with this No, we will lend a helping hand towards our lenders. We will call on each one of them to find common ground," he said. "As of tomorrow, Europe, whose heart is beating in Greece tonight, is starting to heal its wounds, our wounds. Today's No is a big Yes to democratic Europe... a resounding yes to the vision of the euro zone as the common land of prosperity and social justice," he added. He spoke as Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel said the Greek government must explain how it sees the next steps after people rejected the terms of a bailout voicing optimism that a solution can be found. Germany's Economy Minister Sigmar Gabriel told the Tagesspiegel daily that it was hard to imagine talks on a new bailout program with Greece after the country clearly rejected bailout terms in a referendum. Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and French President Francois Hollande held talks over the phone on Sunday, a Greek government spokesman said German Chancellor Angela Merkel will travel to Paris on Monday afternoon to discuss the result of the referendum with French President Francois Hollande, a German government spokesman said on Sunday.
