ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump took credit on Thursday (October 8) for the shakeup in the race to succeed John Boehner as Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy was the leading candidate but unexpectedly dropped out of the race earlier in the day, saying he didn't feel he was the right person for the job. At a rally in Las Vegas, Nevada, Trump told the crowd that he was receiving a lot of credit for the move, because he had said that the party needed someone who was "very, very tough," and "also smart" in the Speaker's post. While conceding that "Kevin is a nice guy," Trump said he hoped that the party would elect someone who would use the debt ceiling as a bargaining tool in negotiations with Democrats.
