An edition of Islamic State's online English-language magazine shows images of the two hostages it says have been executed. A later issue shows graphic pictures of what appear to be dead bodies. One's been named as Norwegian national Ole Johan Grimsgaard-Ofstad. The Norwegian foreign ministry says he was in his 40s and in captivity since January. The other is 50-year-old Chinese national Fan Jinghui. He's said to have once lived at this Beijing apartment block. It's unclear why he went to the Middle East. Both governments have condemned the killings. Chinese state broadcaster CCTV quoted President Xi Jinping calling it a savage act by an extreme organisation. China's repeatedly denouced Islamist militants and urged greater international co-operation in tackling Islamic State although reluctant itself to get involved on the ground in Iraq and Syria. Norway's prime minister called the killing of Grimsgaard-Ofstad 'despicable and barbaric'.
