The US Midwest is digging out. More than a foot foot of snow fell across the region over the weekend, from South Dakota to Wisconsin, with northern Chicago and Indiana, too, receiving a heavy blanketing. The early snowstorm came several weeks ahead of the official start of winter and delayed air travel, disrupting some events for U.S. presidential candidates traveling to Iowa. As the midwest plows out, the storm is forecast to head east to the Great Lakes region toward Michigan and upstate New York.
