Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India would work ''shoulder to shoulder'' with the U.S. to make clean energy resources more affordable. Deborah Lutterbeck reports.

India's capital New Delhi chokes under a thick layer of smog. Part of the backdrop as world leaders meet in Paris to discuss steps to reduce greenhouse gases. India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi sat down with U.S. President Barack Obama where he spoke of better times to come. SOUNDBITE) (Hindi) INDIAN PRIME MINISTER NARENDRA MODI SAYING: "My friend, President Obama and I are launching are on a very good mission and we are working together. With President Obama, we have such a deep relationship that we are able to discuss very openly on issues and also set out our projects. This initiative on innovation in which India too would be present, we are going to be with the United States and work shoulder to shoulder and I am sure in the times to come, this will get very good results." After talks with Modi, Obama told reporters that he and Modi had agreed climate change was an urgent threat but also saying that India has to be able to grow.
