A Turkish tank takes aim in the country's volatile southeast. This is Cizre -- for weeks ground zero in the fight between the Turkish military and Kurdistan Workers Party, or PKK. It's a decades old battle -- recently reignited after a two-year ceasefire collapsed. In just 48 hours, fighting has killed one Turkish soldier and 12 PKK fighters. Adding to the thousands who have already died since the PKK first took up arms in 1984 -- in a push for greater autonomy in the southeast. The PKK is designated a terrorist group by Turkey, the United States and European Union. Some fear the only way to live is to leave. (SOUNDBITE) (Kurdish) CIZRE RESIDENT, HATICE BURAK, SAYING: "We have left our neighbourhood to go out of town. They are shelling us with mortars, attacking with tanks. We are going to go to another region." Fleeing the scene of a battle in a fight President Tayyip Erdogan vows to win.
