ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: U.S. President Barack Obama departed Honolulu on Saturday (January 2) after a two-week vacation with his family. Several dozens of people gathered at the airport to say goodbye to Obama and First Lady Michelle. Obama and Michelle greeted the crowd assembled in a viewing pen with handshakes and hellos. Obama will arrive in Washington on Sunday (January 3). On Monday (January 4), Obama, frustrated by Congress' inaction on gun control, will meet with U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch to discuss ways of reducing gun violence unilaterally through measures that do not require congressional approval. In his weekly recorded address on Friday (January 1), Obama said he had received "too many letters from parents, and teachers, and kids, to sit around and do nothing." He has repeatedly urged Congress to tighten gun laws.
