ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Democratic presidential nominee Bernie Sanders said he supports U.S. President Barack Obama in nominating a replacement to fill the empty Supreme Court Justice seat left vacant by Antonin Scalia. During an event in Colorado Saturday night, Sanders said: "It appears that some of my Republican colleagues in the Senate have a very interesting view of the Constitution of the United States. Apparently they believe that the Constitution does not allow a Democratic president to bring forth a nominee to replace Justice Scalia. I strongly disagree with that." Sanders went on to say that he hoped Obama would nominate a strong candidate who would be confirmed as soon as possible. Scalia, 79, was found dead at the Cibolo Creek Ranch resort in West Texas on Saturday. A number of leading Republicans, including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, immediately said they would oppose any attempt by Obama to nominate a new justice.
