ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: U.S. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump defended his position on the Iraq war during an interview with CBS's Face the Nation on Sunday (February 14), following the debate in Greenville, South Carolina. "The war in Iraq has been a disaster," he said. "It started the chain of events that leads now to the migration, maybe the destruction of Europe. [Former President George W. Bush] started the war in Iraq. Am I supposed to be a big fan?" During the debate, the real estate mogul had blasted rival candidate Jeb Bush's brother for launching the war in 2003 over claims, later proven false, that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction. "We spent two trillion dollars on that war; we lost thousands of lives; we have wounded warriors who I love all over the place, It shouldn't have started," Trump said during the post-debate interview. "We would've been so much better off if Bush and the rest of them went to the beach and didn't do anything," he added. Earlier in the night, Trump had also noted that the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks had occurred on Bush's watch, drawing boos from the audience. Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, who has wilted in the past under assault from Trump, stood firm this time. He will campaign with his brother George on Monday in North Charleston, South Carolina.
