ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz said rival Donald Trump is "like Hillary Clinton," telling a campaign rally in Nashville, Tennessee that Trump is "a rich New York Liberal." He also said he thought Trump had a rough time at Thursday Republican debate saying, "I think Donald Trump had a tough night." "If you don't want to see Donald Trump as the nominee, we need to united, and the candidate who is running neck and neck with Donald in the states across Super Tuesday, is me, if you want to beat Donald, stand with us," Cruz said. "For 60 years of his life he described himself as very pro-choice, as supporting partial birth abortion, and as pro-choice in every respect, and then when he decided to run for President, as a Republican, suddenly magically, he was pro-life," Cruz said., "I get that voting for Donald Trump for a lot of people is telling Washington to go jump in the lake," Cruz said. "I get that, and his rhetoric is loud and angry and for people that ...want to scream at Washington, the loudest angriest voice, gives voice to that," Cruz said. "But he is telling us he is going to go back on what he said," Cruz said. "Donald Trump said, 'I can be a totally different person after I am elected, I can be the most politically correct' -- this is Donald speaking -- person on earth," Cruz said. "Let me tell you something...the day after I am elected President, I am the exact same person that I am today," Cruz said. With Trump, age 69, increasingly looking to be the party's likely nominee for the Nov. 8 election, Cruz joined Sen. Marco Rubio to attack Trump, attacks that only dented Trump's momentum, according to opinion polls and online betting markets. PredictWise, a research project that analyzes opinion polls and betting markets, said Trump would comfortably win among Republicans in all but one of 11 states that it measured in the March 1 nominating contests, known as Super Tuesday. Cruz, 45, is likely to win in Texas, his home state, PredictWise said.
