NATURAL ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Story: Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump told supporters in Plattsburgh, New York on Friday (April 15) that "New York values" were those demonstrated by New York City police and firefighters on 9-11, who risked their lives to save people trapped in the World Trade Center. The comments were a jab at Republican rival Sen. Ted Cruz, who said disparagingly referred to Trump's "New York values" last January. Cruz later said that he was referring to those who are pro-abortion and pro-gay-marriage, but Trump used the comments to sway voters as the state prepares for its presidential primaries next week. Trump is talking up "New York values" in hopes of a big win next week. The New York billionaire is trying to win enough delegates to capture the Republican presidential nomination outright and avoid a contested convention.
