ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) U.S. Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz on Sunday (May 1) accused his rival Donald Trump of lacking core beliefs and leading a campaign "run by Washington lobbyists." "Donald changes as the wind blows, because the only thing that Donald is interested in is Donald -- whatever makes him rich," the U.S. senator from Texas told CBS's "Face the Nation". Cruz maintained that Trump, a billionaire businessman from New York and the Republican front-runner, would not win the 1,237 delegates to seal the party nomination for president. His hopes now rest on emerging as a consensus alternative to Trump at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland on July 18-21. However, Trump has said that if he wins Tuesday's contest in Indiana, the race would basically be over. A new NBC/Wall Street Journal/Marist opinion poll showed Trump with a wide lead in Indiana, 49 percent to 34 percent for Cruz and 13 percent for a third candidate, Ohio Governor John Kasich. Trump, who has amassed 996 delegates, according to an Associated Press count, has momentum behind him and looks increasingly likely to win the nomination outright, without a contested convention, perhaps when California votes on June 7.
