ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) U.S. President Barack Obama said G7 members are "surprised" by likely Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, during a press conference in Shima City, Japan on Thursday (May 26). "They are not sure how seriously to take some of his pronouncements but they're rattled by him," Obama said. "A lot of the proposals that he's made display either ignorance of world affairs or a cavalier attitude or an interest in getting tweets and headlines instead of actually thinking through what it is that is required to keep America safe..." said Obama. Trump's ascent has shaken the party establishment and raised concerns among some Republicans over whether they can unify behind him, given his harsh rhetoric and shifting policy positions in a brutal primary fight that once had 17 candidates.
