ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: President Barack Obama, looking to to burnish his legacy in the final year of his administration, highlighted on Wednesday (June 1) the economic progress made during his administration during a town-hall stye event at Elkhart, Indiana, the first city he visited as president. Obama also reminded the crowd that the economy is driving the current U.S. presidential election campaign and that residents of Elkhart are likely the kind of voters whose ballots will decide the outcome of the election. Unemployment in Elkhart, a manufacturing center for recreational vehicles and band instruments, has fallen to 4.1 percent from 19.6 percent in 2009, according to a White House statement. Obama also tried to debunk what he said was the economic "myth making" from Republicans, which he said serves to advance the interests of the very wealthy.
