ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders on Tuesday (June 14) vowed to fight in the coming weeks to bring the most progressive platform ever to the Democratic national convention. Sanders told reporters during a brief news conference at his Washington campaign headquarters that he aims to push for reforms within the Democratic party including same-day voter registration, changes to the electoral process so that the electoral count more closely reflects voter ballots and replacing the party leadership with members who will bring more people into the party rather than to simply, as he put it, raise large sums of money for the party. Sanders is set to meet his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton on Tuesday evening after voting concludes in Washington, D.C.'s primary nominating contest, marking the end of a fierce battle for the party's mantle. Clinton has all but wrapped up the Democratic nomination for the White House already after a string of wins since February, and is hoping for Sanders' support as she prepares to take on Republican Donald Trump in November's election. The meeting between Clinton and Sanders was planned on June 7 when the former secretary of state secured enough delegates to become the presumed Democratic nominee, scoring victories in heavily populated states California and New Jersey.
