London's French community face an uncertain future after Britain voted to part ways with the European Union. It's unclear yet what will happen -- but it could mean that British citizens will no longer have the right to work in the EU, and vice versa. Kim Harthoorn, a French citizen who has lived in Britain since January, said she felt 'rejected' by the decision. (SOUNDBITE) (English) FRENCH CITIZEN LIVING IN LONDON, KIM HARTHOORN, SAYING: "London is too expensive anyway. So, I already thought I wouldn't stay but since now I don't know what is going to happen politically here." Britons voted by 52 to 48 percent to leave the EU, delivering the biggest blow since World War II to the European project of forging greater unity. French citizen Marie, shopping for books in the London area known as "Little France", said she was upset by results. (SOUNDBITE) (English) FRENCH CITIZEN AND COLLECTION OFFICER IN NORTH YORKSHIRE, MARIE, SAYING: "I think the Brexit campaign has been focusing a lot on immigration and all the money that would come back from EU which is partially true but there are some other aspects that I think may have not been understood or foreseen by the people who have voted Leave." The British vote has signalled a new direction for Europe -- many fear other countries will also consider separating from the bloc.
