It's the latest twist in a dramatic reshaping of British politics. Nigel Farage -- the brash leader of the right-wing UK Independence Party, who fought tirelessly in support of Britain's EU exit vote -- says he's realized his sole ambition and is stepping down. (SOUNDBITE) (English) UKIP LEADER, NIGEL FARAGE, SAYING: "I have never been and never wanted to be a career politician. My aim for being in politics was to get Britain out of the European Union." In London, praise from some... but from others, criticism and derision. (SOUNDBITE) (English) EVENTS ORGANIZER, ALLY WILSON, SAYING: "Someone taking you to the edge of somewhere and then bravely running away at the last minute." (SOUNDBITE) (English) RETIRED WOMAN, MAGGIE COOK, SAYING: "Good luck, I mean he's a closet Nazi so it's good he's gone." Farage's departure means one of the most effective anti-EU campaigners won't contribute to the detailed negotiations over how exactly Britain will sever its ties from the European bloc.. ... its biggest constitutional change since the dissolution of its empire after World War Two.)
