ROUGH CUT - NATURAL (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry met his British counterpart Boris Johnson in London on Tuesday (July 19). Kerry is making his first visit to the city since Britain voted last month to leave the European Union. Johnson was appointed Britain's foreign minister by new Prime Minister Theresa May last week, having led the campaign to encourage the British public to leave the European Union. Early on Tuesday he called for Russia and other states to demand Syrian President Bashar al-Assad step down as he prepared for his first meeting with Western counterparts on Syria's intractable civil war. Along with Kerry, Johnson will meet peers from Germany, France, Italy and the European Union in London to discuss Syria's five-year conflict, which has spurred the rise of Islamic State, sucked in regional and major powers and created the world's worst refugee crisis.
