It's Theresa May's first foreign visit as British Prime Minister and German Chancellor Angela Merkel received her with military honors. The meeting comes at a challenging time. The newly minted Prime Minister has to prepare the way for Britain to leave the EU. Merkel has said it is a question of timing -- that Britain needs to be clear about what kind of relationship it wants to have with the EU before starting talks on quitting the bloc. (SOUNDBITE) (German) GERMAN CHANCELLOR, ANGELA MERKEL, SAYING: "No one wants a period of limbo, I believe, neither the British public or the European member countries. But everyone has an interest in things being prepared carefully and for positions to be clear." May struck some familiar themes. (SOUNDBITE) (English) BRITISH PRIME MINISTER, THERESA MAY, SAYING: "I've been clear that Brexit means Brexit and the United Kingdom is going to make a success of it. But I also want to be clear here today and across Europe in the weeks ahead that we are not walking away from our European friends." Later, over a meal of tuna with mango chutney and veal with mushrooms May and Merkel discussed the possibilities in general terms. The next stop for the British PM is France and meetings with French President Francois Hollande.
