ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton meets with leading law enforcement officers across the U.S on Thursday (August 18) in New York City. "I want to support them, our police officers, with the resources they need to do their jobs. To do them effectively, to learn from their efforts and to apply those lessons across our nation. I believe supporting our police officers and improving policing go hand in hand. Everyone is safer when there is respect for the law and when everyone is respected by the law," said Clinton. A teenager who was shot and killed by Chicago police officers last month suffered a single gunshot wound to his back, according to an autopsy by the Cook County medical examiner's office made public on Wednesday. The shooting death of Paul O'Neal adds to list of fatal encounters between police and black men and women in U.S. cities that have fueled protests over the past two years and stoked a national debate on race and police tactics. The U.S. presidential candidates are tackling the issue. Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has a 6-percentage-point lead over Republican rival Donald Trump, according to a Reuters/Ipsos tracking poll released on Tuesday.
