He calls himself America's toughest sheriff. But Joe Arpaio, the provocative sheriff from Arizona could soon find himself on the wrong side of the law. A federal judge is asking prosecutors to bring criminal contempt charges against Arpaio and several of his subordinates for violating court orders in a racial profiling case. The judge says Arpaio failed to follow court orders to keep the Maricopa County Sheriff's office from racially profiling Latinos. Those charges, if proven in court, could lead to jail time and fines. Federal prosecutors must decide if they'll pursue the case. The controversial Arpaio is known for his tough stance on illegal immigration. He's endorsed Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump who has promised to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.
